Watch Tesla’s Annual Meeting of Shareholders (TSLA) Cyber Roundup and follow the news
Tesla (TSLA) is holding its annual shareholder meeting, now called Cyber Roundup, and you can watch it below as you follow all the top news from the event.
It starts today at 4:30 p.m. Central Time at Tesla Gigafactory Texas.
Like any company, Tesla must hold an annual shareholders’ meeting where shareholders vote on certain items such as director nominations, shareholder proposals and certain special items.
This year, the main special item is a proposed 3-for-1 stock split.
Shareholders will also vote on the re-election of Ira Ehrenpreis and Kathleen Wilson Thompson as directors, the reduction of director terms to two years and the elimination of applicable supermajority voting requirements. Tesla shareholders were able to vote by proxy before the meeting, and it is very likely that they will announce that all of these proposals have been adopted after they have been read during the formal part of the meeting.
After that, shareholders who have submitted proposals will have a few minutes to present them and the company will announce the early voting results for them; they are all related to corporate governance and the board has asked shareholders to vote against them. Historically, these are closed when the council asks to vote against them.
This will be the end of the official part of Tesla’s annual meeting, and then CEO Elon Musk is expected to take the stage to give a presentation which will be called “Cyber Roundup”.
You can watch the presentation live here via Youtube starting at 4:30 p.m. CT:
Typically, the annual presentation includes a recap of Tesla’s history and specifically the year.
After the presentation, Musk — and sometimes other Tesla executives — will take questions from shareholders; both people live at the event.
Here are some of the most voted questions:
- When will the stock split take place?
- How does Tesla intend to use the cash in the next few years? Will Tesla increase capital spending, stock buybacks, dividends or acquisitions?
- How many factories are needed to reach the long-term goal of 20 million vehicles per year?
- When the price of the cybertruck is released, will everyone who ordered before its removal be grandfathered or will they have to reconfigure? When will the prices be published?
- How does Tesla see the geopolitical risk between the United States and China?
Tesla is unlikely to make major announcements, especially when it comes to new products, as the company prefers to save them for separate events. The company is holding its “Tesla AI Day” on September 30.
But we’re still waiting for newsworthy comments following the event, and we’ll post them here:
