Now open: Ritz-Carlton New York NoMad
Marriott’s newest luxury property opened in New York this week, and it’s probably worth being aware of if you’re a Marriott Bonvoy loyalist, especially since you can redeem points here.
Ritz-Carlton NoMad New York Basics
The Ritz-Carlton New York NoMad welcomed its first guests in July 2022. This complements the brand’s existing property in the city, which is The Ritz-Carlton New York Central Park. Many New York hotels are a bit past their prime and/or have classic decor, so in that sense the Ritz-Carlton NoMad stands out, as it’s a newly built property.
The hotel is located in the northern Madison Square Park neighborhood (hence the name “NoMad”), and it is housed in a 50-story tower, rising 500 feet above the city. The property has 250 rooms, including 19 suites, as well as 16 one- and two-bedroom penthouse residences.

The Ritz-Carlton NoMad has a club lounge, as is the case with most Ritz-Carlton properties. Ritz-Carlton Club Lounges are a step up from your typical hotel club lounges, although priced accordingly. The property also has a 6,800-square-foot spa and fitness center, featuring eight treatment rooms, a sauna, and a steam room. Spa treatments include products from Augustinus Bader.
The property also has remarkable restoration points, including:
- Zaytinya, offering a mezze menu inspired by Turkish, Greek and Lebanese cuisines
- Nubeluz, located on the hotel’s rooftop, which offers 270-degree views of Manhattan, with a long list of signature cocktails, light snacks and more
- The Lobby Lounge & Bar, where you can enjoy coffee and pastries in the morning, or drinks in the afternoon and evening
- The Bazaar by Jose Andres, which will debut in late 2022

Admittedly, I’m not particularly loyal to the Ritz-Carlton brand, as the group isn’t great at honoring Marriott Bonvoy’s elite perks. That being said, to me it looks like a pretty attractive luxury option in NYC, at least based on my preferences – it has great views, a good location (which to me is anything but Midtown), and a modern design , all of which are things that I love.
I also think it’s worth acknowledging that the hotel has a strong food and drink game, especially compared to other hotels. For example, the Park Hyatt New York still does not have a restaurant.
Ritz-Carlton NoMad New York Rates and Points Requirements
So what are the points requirements and rates like at the Ritz-Carlton NoMad New York? They are about what you would expect, given the general state of hotel prices.
Marriott Bonvoy has dynamic reward pricing these days, so prices vary by night. Point requirements seem to start at just under 100,000 Bonvoy Points per night. To maximize value, there’s a fifth night free when redeeming points, which will stretch your points even further.

Cash rates at the Ritz-Carlton NoMad seem to start at just under $1,000 per night.

If you plan to book a cash stay at the Ritz-Carlton NoMad, I highly recommend doing so through the Marriott STARS program, so you can receive free breakfast, $100 property credit, room upgrade , early check-in and late check-out (subject to availability) and a welcome gift. At the moment, the hotel is even offering a confirmed upgrade upon booking for those who book through Marriott STARS.
This is only available for cash stays, and you will have to pay regardless of the regular “flexible” rate. It is not available when redeeming points. The Marriott STARS program is particularly valuable for stays at the Ritz-Carlton, as the brand does not include breakfast for elite members.
At the end of the line
The Ritz-Carlton New York NoMad is newly opened and looks like a great new option for those looking for a modern luxury property in a fun space. The hotel offers great views and an impressive selection of food and drink outlets.
This is a solid new option for those looking to redeem points, though it’s a shame the Bonvoy elite perks are limited to the Ritz-Carltons when redeeming points. This is not an issue for cash stays, when you can book through Marriott STARS.
